Welcome to Screamin FX Boutique Guitar Effects Pedals
ScreaminFX is out in Austin Texas! The Live Music Capitol of the World!
ScreaminFX Background
Right now ScreaminFX is a one man show where I design and build my own style of guitar pedal. Please send an email anytime to me, Seth! I used my background and Ph.D. in electrical engineering to design my own guitar pedals. After 10 years of designing, they sound so good that I started selling them early in 2012. The effects pedals are taking off and reviews are extremely positive.
All Analog Design
The biggest emphasis is that the pedals you find here will be all analog with no digital whatsoever. A digital pedal has a computer program and a finite response. I want my tone to be analog, vintage and have every single part in the pedal matter. Back to old school, single transistor discrete circuit design.
New Pedal Designs
I design the circuits for my pedals by picking out what I don't like about other pedals and what I cant find anywhere else. Then I go through a long testing stage, where each component in the circuit is varied for ideal tone.
Handmade and Quality
Everything here is handmade and I strive for the highest quality. I do everything myself, from designing the circuits to screen printing my own labels on each and every one. These pedals are not mass market, box store designs that everyone else has.
Mission Statement
To sum it up, right now ScreaminFX is a one man show where I design and build handmade guitar pedals you wont find anywhere else. Now some details. . .
ScreaminFX is a new company that I have wanted to start for a long time. It is all about using solid analog design to develop pedals and guitar circuits that are extremely high quality. This means using quality parts such as name brand capacitors, resistors and other elements along with using sound electrical engineering principals. I have always been really into blues and rock, but especially good tone (I also studied classical guitar, big band jazz and was lead guitar in a hardcore band). I think what started it was using 11 and 12s on all my guitars to get that Hendrix and Stevie sound. There is a lot more to it, and one thing is analog. A lot can be done with digital these days, but when it comes down to it, it is a program that is controlling your sound. That doesnt work for me and you will never see any digital on this site or in my pedals. If you want to learn more, read my article on the difference between analog and digital for guitars (coming soon). Another important point is that the pedals I make all have some twist and you wont find them anywhere else.
About the Engineer
Basically, when I started my undergraduate school I was undecided and was in between becoming a performance guitar major or an engineer. I really like math and science but was really interested in guitar and played for 15 hours a day when I could. I decided that I really wanted to learn how to build guitar pedals and also heard that electrical engineering was really hard. So, I studied classical guitar for 4 years but did my major in electrical engineering. One thing led to another and I ended up getting a doctorate in electrical engineering. All this was about 10 years ago, in that time I have learned a good deal about electrical engineering and also guitar circuits in general. So, now that I have some time I have been developing my own high quality pedals. The quality of these pedals over mass produced pedals is really huge, from things like parts used to true bypass circuitry.
The ScreaminFX Guarantee
I stand behind all the pedals I build. If you buy one from me directly and find you want a different sound, I will accept all returns minus shipping up to 60 days after you purchase the pedal as long as the pedal is still in original condition. All my guitar pedals include a full warranty against defect for 3 years from the proof of purchase.
